What Path Are You On?
There is a right way and there is a wrong way, but this isn't about judgement, it's about reality. You can test it for yourself.
The right way leads to wholesome, happy, healthy results. That is, the right way leads to well-being. What does well-being involve? It involves understanding and compassion, clarity, space, and freedom. Freedom from worry and anxiety, freedom from stress, from being in a hurry all day, every day.
In other words, when we are calm and relaxed, when we are free from worries and concerns, when there is confidence in ourselves, we are much more likely to engage in actions that help us realise our full potential. That is the right way.
Conversely, the wrong way leads to unwholesome, unhappy, unhealthy results. The wrong way leads to ill-being: confusion, frustration, anger, violence, stress, and a lack of time and space to do the things we want to do. The wrong way leads to toxicity, both within and around us.
The seeds or potential for both the right way and the wrong way are within each of us.
One thing most people don't notice is that the kind of input we use as our sources of English are in fact nurturing and feeding who we are. Language itself is content-free, because it is structural, so the content through which we learn as adults is based on choice.
If you are improving your English through content that is filled with anger and violence (like the news, most Hollywood films, Netflix series and other popular material), you are unconsciously watering seeds that could be leading to ill-being.
But there is another way, which is to join a program that teaches you how to develop your English skills effectively, but also, that focuses on wholesome and interesting content that nurtures well-being.
Are you ready to step aside from worldly toxicity and focus on the only thing that each of us can actually do to create a better world for future generations, which is to look within and work on ourselves in the first instance?
